Q&A: Co-Founders of CannaBliss Festival

Tell us about your relationship with the plant and how it’s been beneficial to your life?

At Ravens View Genetics, RVG, we value purity above all else. This commitment starts with the genetics that are chosen, our growing practices, the formulations of our edibles, our sustainable packaging, and everything else that goes into providing an ‘old school’ product. We like to say that we grow for the EXPERIENCE, not just the HIGH. As a nurse and Wholistic Health Care Practitioner, it is very important to me that we maintain the integrity of the whole plant as nature intended, thereby offering products that are rich in Cannabinoids, Terpenes, and the Plant Medicine. It is th

is aspect of Cannabis that hooked me back in my college days, many moons ago. It is still the most exciting part of this plant and the growing Industry. Now that we have transitioned our grow to an indoor facility, we are able to really lean into the pure Landrace and Heirloom genetics that are not well represented in the NYS market today. These special strains are incredibly different from most of the current offerngs. These strains typically test lower in THC but will get the consumer higher for longer in a very nuanced and experiential way. We have just

Describe your path to starting CannaBliss Festival and what led to that inspiration?

I was approached by Jay and Abby Wilson from the Maple Shade Farm earlier this year about a Cannabis Festival. They are very successful at creating special Festivals and events that attract a large number of people from all over the State and felt that there was a place for something equally special in this Industry. The CannaBLISS in the Catskills focus is on education within the beautiful setting and experiences of the Cannabis culture. Education has been a large part of the RVG mission since our licensure in 2022 as we believe that an educated consumer will drive the quality of the product at the dispensary level and will ensure that there are products in the market that are pure and special.

Was there a void you saw or felt was missing from existing festivals?

It feels as though most of the festivals that have gained traction in NYS are catering to the large Cannabis brands from other States that come into NYS with capital and some name recognition. In conversation with Jay and Abby, we agreed to focus on the small business, local craft growers only. This to give this group of born and bred New Yorkers an opportunity to meet the consumer directly to share about the special ways in which a small-scale grower can offer something uniquely different from the larger scale operators.

What can guests expect from the CannaBliss Festival?

Lots of incredible music, great food, workshops, classes, demos, and all of the things that come when a group of people in this culture come together to share in the community. As one of our special guest offerings the Sisters of the Valley will be joining us to join the festivities and provide a meditation circle blessing for the land and the plants that grace our lives. These nuns grow hemp and produce CBD products for the market and are big advocates for Cannabis. You can find and follow them on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/sistersofthevalley/

How has progress been for NYS cultivators in recent changes to affordability and able to make a name for themselves?

The road for Cultivators, particularly the small farmers,  in the NYS legal Cannabis Industry has been incredibly challenging due to many circumstances during the rollout that were beyond anyone’s control. Since the market finally opened up in 2024, opportunities to sell product have become more available however, those with small operations are generally doing everything and find it difficult to travel far to market, sell, and deliver product. This festival offers those of us small growers the opportunity to come together in community to share information and support.

What can people expect next from CannaBliss Festival?

More community and good vibes! We hope that this is the first of many opportunities to come together:)
