Burb Shines Light on BC Bud Culture with Luxury Streetwear Collection

Burb, a cannabis lifestyle brand launching out of Vancouver, Canada is introducing itself in the industry with a new retail concept that joins e-commerce, street wear, and media, giving British Columbia Cannabis Culture (BC Bud Culture) its rightful place on the cultural map. Burb’s recently launched e-commerce platform – shopburb.com features its debut collection which is entirely Canadian made and tastefully nods the end of prohibition with a clean and explicit collection of streetwear staples.

As a multi-licensed high-end retailer of recreational cannabis, Burb has also recently opened its first high design flagship retail location in Port Coquitlam, a suburb outside of Vancouver. Additionally Burb has created an editorially driven podcast called Light Culture hosted by the co-founder and publisher of Paper Magazine, David Hershkovits who explores the budding cannabis industry through conversations with some key voices with the premiere episodes featuring Fab 5 Freddy, Abdullah Saeed, and Steve DeAngelo. Throughout the year, Burb has plans to activate events in both the Vancouver and Los Angeles markets bridging communities across country lines and bringing their BC Bud brand into focus.

Nestled in the heart of the Fraser Valley, Port Coquitlam or “PoCo” is an up and coming neighborhood located in the center of what is known as the TriCities area, just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Some are starting to compare the area to Williamsburg in Brooklyn or Silverlake in LA, as it is seeing a surge of city dwellers moving to the area for a more amenable lifestyle. The 3,700 sq ft. flagship store is located in a newly developed retail complex along major commuter artery, Mary Hill Bypass. Port Coquitlam is the fastest growing municipality in Vancouver’s lower mainland. Unique offerings will include: Burb branded accessories — grinders, papers, stash jars, tsubota lighters and matches — and cannabis products will launch through select licensing agreements in Canada. A curation of high quality locally BC-grown flower and top tier third-party cannabis brands will also be available in-store.

The Burb flagship was designed to not only house top cannabis brands and high-end apparel, but to create a safe space where you want to hang out. Inspired by Vancouver’s natural bounty of sun, sea and sand, award-winning designer Jennifer Dunn, (who is also behind the design concept for Saje Natural Wellness), created a comfortable and relaxed space unlike any retail store created to date. Burb has created a curated design aesthetic and sophisticated shopping experience that aligns with today’s consumers who identify with a brand’s cultural values as well as its products.

The global brand is focused on capturing the spirit of the west-coast and “BC Bud” culture which plays on the storied cannabis history of British Columbia, which has served as the catalyst for cultivation and activism that has led to the worldwide cannabis legalization movement. Since Canadian cannabis legalization took effect, there have been many roadblocks making business relations with the burgeoning cannabis industry in the U.S. difficult to establish. Burb is closing this gap by curating lifestyle retail offerings and embodying a culture that can be experienced globally.

Burb’s e-commerce site was created in the same vein as its flagship, showcasing a collection of streetwear staples and canna-accessories that will be sold internationally. The high quality basics apparel showcased in the collection are the perfect mix of luxe and casual, with a minimalist design which is designed, cut, sewn, and manufactured in Canada. Highlights include a signature Poco hoodie with a smell proof pouch in the kangaroo pocket and custom made Burb branded accessories and limited edition waistbag which comes with removable smell proof pouch, snap tech hardware, storage slots, and combination lock encased in a X-Pac weather proof material. The retail collection allows cannabis supporters to show their affinity for the plant without feeling judged or discriminated. The pieces evoke curiosity as the design and consistent warm colour palette draws you in and invites you to explore the culture of the brand.
